Big Brown Bossy
COCK-A-DOODLE-D00!
Josh hops out of bed.
He likes to feed the cow and the pigs.
Lady runs to the barn to meet him-
ARF ! ARF!
Josh feeds grain to a big brown cow.
Then he asks, "Can I milk Bossy today?"
Dad smiles. "I do not know if you can,"
he says, "but you may try."]]
Josh stands next to his dad.
"May I milk Bossy now?" he asks.
"If you bring that clean pail to me,"
says Dad, "I will show you how."
"You squeeze like this," he says.
Dad squirts fresh milk into the pail.
Then he squirts a stream of milk right
into the mouth of a kitty.]]
Josh sits down on the little stool
and tries to squirt a stream of milk.
He tries and tries, but he gets no milk.
"It does not look that hard," he says.
"You may try tonight, too," says Dad.
Dad sits down and squirts the milk fast.
Then he says, "We will let the calf
drink the rest."]]
Big Pigs
and Little Piglets
Josh stirs grain into the sour milk.
He stirs and stirs-and then he
stirs fast!
He thinks it's fun to stir the pig's food.
Soon Dad takes the pail of food to the
pigpen, and Josh goes with him.]]
The big mama pig is waiting in a
small, clean shed.
Josh walks to the pigpen with his dad
and helps dump out the pig's food Plop.
Plop. Splash!
The mama pig stands up. OINK, OINK,
she snorts. OINK, OINK, OINK!
The piglets all squeal.]]
Jenny runs up to her dad.
"How is the tiny piglet?" she asks.
"May I feed him? He's not eating."
"He does need to eat," says Dad.
Dad stoops down and picks up the piglet.
Then he takes him to the barn for Jenny.
Jenny sits down on a stool with a bottle
of milk for the piglet.]]
Jenny talks to the little piglet,
but he just sucks on the bottle.
Jenny smiles at her dad and says,
"Look at him. He looks so cute!"
Then Jenny spies the little kitty"
You are cute, too!" she says.
"Dad, I'm glad God made the kitty, and
I'm glad He made the piglet, too.
Thank you, God."]]
Fluffy Chicks
and Downy Ducks
PEEP, PEEP. CHEEP the
chicks are hunting for food.
Jenny throws out oats and corn for them.
Peck. Peck, peck. Peck, peck, peck.
The chicks eat the grain how
good it tastes!
Then Jenny hears the mother hen.]]
CLUCK! CLUCK! CLUCK!
The mother hen sounds mad,
so Jenny stays far away from her.
The mother duck calls the baby ducks QUACK.
QUACK, QUACK.
The baby ducks run to the mother duck,
and she leads them to the pond.]]
"One, two, three, four, five, six,"
count Josh and Jenny.
The baby ducks walk in line
all the way to the pond.
"Quick, Jenny!" calls Josh.
"Let's beat the ducks to the pond."
The sun feels hot, but the pond is cool.
Splash! The mother duck swims off.
Splash. Splash, splash, splash the
baby ducks swim off, too.]]
The mother duck dives down for food.
One, two, three, four, five, six
baby ducks dive down, too.
The baby ducks swim and swim
and eat and eat.
Soon the mother duck calls to them QUACK,
QUACK, QUACK.
Then she leads the baby ducks
back to the clean, dry nest.]]
Jenny's Little Puppy
COCK-A-DOODLE-Doo!
Josh wanted to help his dad milk Bossy,
so he hopped right out of bed.
"I do not see Lady," he said.
Dad just smiled. "Check in the barn."]]
"I found her," called Josh. "Look!
She's right here, and she has pups four
of them!"
Each day, Josh and Jenny went to see
the little pups.
And each day Jenny said,
"The pups are growing fast.
I can't wait to play with them."]]
One day a puppy ran up to Jenny.
She bent down, and he sniffed her hand sniff-
sniff, sniff-sniff.
The puppy liked Jenny.
"You cute little puppy," said Jenny.
"I'm going to call you Sport.
Let's go for a walk, Sport."
Jenny took Sport to the pond.
Splash, splash, splash 
The little ducks swam away.]]
The next day Jenny called, "Here, Sport."
Sport ran to Jenny-wiggle, wiggle
went his little tail.
Jenny bent down to pet him.
Then she said, "Let's go see the chicks."
Sport ran across the grass to sniff them,
but the little chicks ran away.
"Now let's go to the barn," said Jenny.
Sport saw the little kitty, and he ran
to sniff it.
Jenny smiled. "Thank you, God,
for my little puppy," she said.
"He's so much fun to play with!"]]
