I Spy
"Let's go, Bud!" calls Gramps.
Bud runs up the trail to Sis and Gramps.
"I can't wait to get to the creek,"
says Bud.
Gramps just grins and says,
"Tell me if you see a blue jay."]]
"I am glad God made blue jays,"
says Sis as she skips down the path.
"Look! I spy a nest," cries Bud.
Sis runs back to see the nest.
"I can't see it," she says.]]
"Look in that tree," says Bud.
"I just see leaves," says Sis.
Bud jumps up on a stump and points"
It's in that tree."
"Now I see it," says Sis.]]
Sis feels a drop of rain.
Then Bud and Sis feel lots of drops.
"Quick! Run to that tree by Gramps,"
says Bud.
Bud and Sis slip and slide to the tree.
"Sh-h-h," Gramps tells them,
"I spy a blue jay."]]
Fun with Gramps
Croak, croak. Croak.
"I spy a toad," says Sis.
Bud tries to sneak up on it, but he slips.
A twig snaps-and the toad hops off.
Gramps just grins and says,
"Tell me if you see a blue jay."]]
"Let's eat here," says Gramps.
Then Gramps cleans the grill.
Bud and Sis work, too.
Sis picks up lots of small twigs,
and Bud picks up big sticks.]]
"Bud! Sis!" calls Gramps,
"I need the wood."
"I spy hot dogs!" says Sis.
Gramps grins and says,
"Tell me if you see a blue jay.
Jays like hot dogs."
Bud smiles and says,
"I spy a sweet treat."]]
"I can't wait to eat," says Sis.
"Let's tell God 'thank you'
for our food," says Gramps.
"Bud, will you pray?"
Bud prays and thanks God
for the good food.]]
"Mm-m-m!" says Sis, "I like hot dogs."
Bud smiles and says,
"I like the sweet treats best."]]
Let's Fish!
"Lift up that rock, Bud," says Gramps.
Bud lifts the rock.
"I see worms," he says-"lots of worms!
Will the fish eat all of these?"
Gramps smiles and says, "I hope so."
"Do fish eat bugs, too?" asks Sis.
Gramps nods and says,
"Fish like worms and bugs and flies."]]
"I spy a green fly," says Sis.
Gramps just grins and says,
"Tell me if you see a blue jay.
Jays like to eat fish."
"Can we fish now?" asks Bud.
"Let's sit down on these rocks
and bait our hooks," says Gramps.
"I do not like worms!" squeals Sis.]]
"Sis, I will help you bait the hook,"
says Gramps.
Bud says, "I can help her, Gramps."
Gramps gets out his bait,
but Bud helps Sis first.
Sis turns to Bud and smiles.
"Thank you," she says,
"I will like to fish now!"]]
The End of the Line
Bud, Sis, and Gramps sit and sit,
but no fish will eat the bait.
Then Bud feels a tug on his line.
"A fish ate my worm," he says.
"Tug on the line!" says Gramps.
"Tug on the line!"]]
Bud tugs and tugs.
Soon he cries, "I spy a fish a
big fish!"
"Good! You got it!" says Gramps.
Then Gramps grins and says,
"Sis, tell me if you see a blue jay."]]
"Look! I spy a small raft!" cries Sis.
"Bud, can you help me get it?"
Just then the leaf raft tilts and
then it tips.
Gramps just grins and says,
"Tell me if you see a blue jay."]]
Bud and Sis sit back down on the rocks.
Then Sis looks at Gramps and cries,
"I spy the blue jay!"
"I spy the blue jay, too!" says Bud.
"Do not eat our worms!"
Gramps just grins and says,
"Blue jays like worms, too."]]
