On a day when there was no school,
Matt, Kelly and Nick were sitting
at the breakfast table.

to go with me!

off at Uncle JT's house on my way to
work. Let's pack a big lunch for both

Matt and Uncle JT went down to the
lake. At the boat dock Uncle JT tried
to start the boat.
It won't start, Uncle JT cried.
I'll check the gas.
When Matt put the last bit of fishing
gear in the boat, Uncle JT told him the
boat was out of gas.
I'll get the gas can, said Matt.
Matt ran to get the gas can.
Uncle JT filled the tank and they were
off to find a good fishing spot.]]
A little while later, Uncle JT said,
Let's fish by those logs.
Fish like to gather under logs, so that
looks like a good spot, Matt agreed.
Matt threw out the boat's anchor to
hold them in place near the good
fishing spot.
Uncle JT was the first one to get a bite.
It was a big fish that jumped out of the
water, but when he tried to reel it in the
fish got off his hook.
I lost it, Uncle JT groaned.
Yes, you did! laughed Matt.]]
Uncle JT missed two more fish. Matt
laughed and laughed each time he
missed one.
You shouldn't laugh at me, Matt,
Uncle JT joked. You haven't even
had one bite all day!
Just then Matt's bobber went under the
water. Matt knew it was a big one by
the way the fish pulled and pulled.
I've got a bite now, yelled Matt,
 and it is a big one!

reel to get the fish to the boat, Uncle JT
yelled, It's a big catfish! It must weigh
20 pounds!
Matt tried to pull the fish over the
